Notice of Round 2 Open Houses and Spring/Summer 2013 EA Fact Sheet

June 1, 2013

On May 10, 2013, Wataynikaneyap Power submitted for review a Final Terms of Reference (ToR) to the Ministry of the Environment and Government Review Team.  Wataynikaneyap Power is now waiting for the Ministry to make a decision on the Final ToR.  While the Minister of the Environment is reviewing the ToR, Wataynikaneyap is holding a second round of Open Houses in communities to further engage the public about our method and results for the corridor routing analysis.  Preliminary  baseline study results on the preferred corridor will also be presented.  The Open Houses are also being held to understand and identify key issues and concerns related to the Project.  Collecting these issues and concerns will help to focus the EA on topics that are important to communities and individuals that may be affected by the Project.

Open Houses have been scheduled in Dryden, Ignace, Sioux Lookout and Pickle Lake during the week of June 17-20.   Wataynikaneyap Power is also working with First Nations to organize open houses in Cat Lake First Nation, Eabametoong First Nation, Eagle Lake First Nation, Lac Seul First Nation, Mishkeegogamang First Nation, Ojibway Nation of Saugeen, Slate Falls Nation, and Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation.
