CCEG Releases Request for Expression of Interest and Qualifications (“REIQ”) to Partner on Wataynikaneyap Project

April 24, 2013

The Central Corridor Energy Group (“CCEG”), representing 13 First Nations, has released a Request for Expression of Interest and Qualifications (“REIQ”) to solicit proposals for the Wataynikaneyap Power Transmission Project. In particular, CCEG is seeking to identify one Proponent with whom to partner in relation to the financing, design, and construction of the Project. The selected Proponent will have practical experience in the development of remote location transmission projects, an established track record with working closely with First Nations, and a viable financing package which allows for the fact that ownership will remain with CCEG and/or Wataynikaneyap Power.  Once a new partner has been secured by CCEG and the project is significantly advanced, Goldcorp is expected to exit Wataynikaneyap.
